Breast Cancer Awareness & Procrastination
Hi, I’m Krista and I’m a recovering perfectionist. Geralin asked me if I’d like to do a guest post… I was honored. Then I was stymied. If I only had one shot at sharing something with all of her fabulous readers, what, just what should I write. So I wrote nothing… In fact I’m 2 weeks late getting this blog post to her. And that doesn’t ‘look’ good, especially when you carry around the job title ‘organized lifestyle expert’. ARGH. At first I really wanted to share some new fabulous apps with you… Then I thought it would be fun to share my favorite things… because I love when “Function Meets Fabulous” But this morning, with fall at my doorstep and pink ribbons adorning the grocery store shelves… I thought about the one thing you should never put off. Where doing nothing isn’t acceptable. Your monthly self breast exam! At age 43 I was diagnosed with Stage 3A breast cancer … with no history of it in my family. Turn the AWARENESS into ACTION!
I wish I had. I wish I had caught mine earlier. My cancer-related to-do list would have been shorter. Stop thinking about it and take a minute to do it. Do your self-exam on payday or do it on the first day of each month. Just do it. Schedule your annual mammogram; for the record mine was clear just 9 months earlier. It doesn’t have to be perfect… just get in there and pay some attention to your girls.
